There is a decrease in the effective power rate for October 2025<\/strong>, primarily due to lower power generation cost. This reduction affected the Generation Charge, Government Revenue and Mandated Charges. Moreover, the Transmission Charge also decrease due to lower Delivery Service Charge for the month. As a result, the final rate dropped to \u20b16.71 \/kWh on October 2025<\/strong> from \u20b18.25 in September 2025.

Despite changes in the Monthly Power Rate, ZAMECO II’s revenue (Distribution, Supply and Metering charges) has remained unchanged since February 2011, in accordance with ERC Case No. 2009-126 RC. The variations in the Monthly Power Rate are primarily driven by changes in Generation Charges, which are pass-through costs.<\/p>\n

The increase in the Effective Power Rate for July 2025 is attributed to the completion of the Automatic Cost Adjustment and True-up Mechanism, which addressed the return of over collections in generation and transmission charges which was reflected to the June 2025 billing. Therefore, the generation rate has normalized for July 2025.<\/p>\n

The gradual decrease of generation rate from January to June is due to the lower average price in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). ZAMECO II is currently sourcing its electricity supply from the WESM due to the expiration of its contract for the sale of electric energy from MPPCL last February 25, 2025. The said lower electricity prices in the WESM is brought about by higher power supply margin and improved market conditions.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the implementation of ERC Resolution No. 14 s. of 2022 (Article 5 Section 1) which allows for the Automatic Cost Adjustment and True-up Mechanism of any over- or under-collection in generation and transmission charges, which further affects the power rate adjustments.<\/p>\n
